Brunei records 595 new COVID cases

Brunei Darussalam yesterday recorded a spike in new COVID-19 cases, reaching nearly 600 cases.

The Sultanate detected a total of 595 new COVID-19 cases where 589 were from antigen rapid tests (ARTs) and six were from 318 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours.

This brings the total number of cases reported in the country to date to 154,728.

No fatalities were reported due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

Statistics on the COVID-19 situation in Brunei were released on the official online and social media platforms of the Ministry of Health.

The ministry also stated two cases are categorised in Category 5 requiring treatment in the Intensive Care Unit.

Meanwhile, two cases in Category 4 requiring oxygen assistance and are under close monitoring.

A total of 359 cases have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 151,224. The total number of active cases is at 3,279.

On the vaccination for children aged five to 11, for first dose the coverage rate is 84.1 per cent and for the second dose is at 69.2 per cent. The coverage rate for those who have received three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine remains at 71.9 per cent.
