Brunei logs 10 new COVID cases

Brunei Darussalam adds 10 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, with two new clusters involving 6 cases. This brings the total number of COVID- 19 cases to 15,142, according to the Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Md Isham bin Hj Jaafar at a press conference on Friday.

There is only one additional new case to one of the existing active cluster, who was previously a close contact with several positive cases.

One of the two new clusters reported on Friday is a worker dormitory.

Four clusters (11689 Cluster, 11721 Cluster, 13459 Cluster and HTB Biltech Sdn Bhd Cluster) have been closed following no new detected cases in the clusters for 28 days. Therefore, the current total active clusters are 122 clusters.

Meanwhile, 3 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection.

41 cases have recovered o Friday, bringing the total number of recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 14,647 cases, whereas the total number active cases are 395 cases.

Among the cases being treated at this time, one case is in Category 5 who is currently being treated at the Intensive Care Unit and requires assistance of artificial ventilation as well as an additional heart/lung machine (ECMO). Meanwhile, there is one other case that is categorised in Category 4 that requires oxygen assistance and is under close monitoring.

In the past 24 hours, a total of 3,627 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which brings the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 631,475 tests.
