THE pre-launch of the Brunei International Islamic Festival (BIIF) 2019 was held at The Rizqun International Hotel yesterday.
This is the first time the festival is being organised in the country, according to the Chief Executive of Qalby Sdn Bhd – the organiser of BIIF 2019 – Norjinah Mahmud.
“The event is held as part of the Brunei December Festival 2018 and an initiative of the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism,” she said.
BIIF 2019 is also being held in line with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s call to preserve and promote Islamic knowledge.
The BIIF 2019 will feature several sections, including an exhibition on Prophet Muhammad’s (pbuh) journey, Norjinah added.
“Last year, our sister company Avertu Management Services staged an exhibition called Cinta dan Kenali Rasulullah SAW which received overwhelming response from the public, especially students. Our intention last year was to get the people to know Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) better,” she said.
Present at yesterday’s pre-launch were Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang and Deputy Permanent Secretary (Tourism) at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism Wardi bin Haji Mohammad Ali.
