Brunei, Indonesia reaffirm commitment to further strengthen bilateral ties

The 4th Joint Defence Cooperation Committee (JDCC) Meeting between Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia was held at Hotel Grand Mercure Kemayoran, Jakarta, Indonesia with both sides reaffirming commitment to further strengthen and deepen bilateral relations.

The meeting was co-chaired by Permanent Secretary (Policy, Finance and Administration) at the Ministry of Defence Colonel (Rtd) Norsuriati binti Haji Sharbini and Secretary General of Indonesia’s Ministry of Defence Air Marshal Donny Ermawan Taufanto, MDS.

The meeting observed discussion around the progress on the bilateral defence cooperation as well as prospects for potential areas of future cooperation.

The Sultanate and Indonesia also exchanged views on regional and international mutual security concerns.

Officials from the defence establishments and armed forces of both countries were also in attendance.

The JDCC between Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia was established in 2014 to serve as a platform for both defence establishments to exchange views on matters of mutual concern as well as discuss current and future defence cooperation.

The JDCC is also a follow up from the signing of the memorandum of understanding in Defence Cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia on April 10, 2003.
