The Brunei Darussalam Handball Federation (BHF) has heightened their preparations in assembling national under-16 and under-19 teams to partake in major competitions sanctioned by the International Handball Federation (IHF).
The association is currently organising training sessions at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex, which takes place for two hours from 8-10am every Friday.
Young and junior participants have been encouraged to take part in the training as the association intensify their efforts for selection in the under-16 and under-19 groups.
There are more than 20 participants attending the training having seen a rise from 14 participants.
The purpose of the training scheme is to develop handball as a popular sport in Brunei as well as to prepare a team to compete in the Youth and Junior International Federation Trophy as well as other tournaments in the IHF next year.
Recently, the under-17 Brunei girls’ team recently bagged bronze in the 2019 Youth & Junior Women Asia Zone 1B International Handball Federation Trophy.
