Brunei Darussalam national football team will be playing Timor Leste in the first leg qualification round of the Asian Football Federation (AFF) Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022 at the Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex this afternoon (3.45pm local time).

The Wasps will be looking to take an advantage by taking a lead on aggregate before they return again for the second leg three days later at the same venue.

The winner of the tie over the two legs will earn a place in the main draw alongside heavyweights Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia and Cambodia in Group ‘A’.

It will be the Sultanate’s test of strength and character under the reign of newly-appointed Mario Rivera Campesino.

The national football team has built some confidence following a 1-0 win in their last friendly match against Laos, with midfielder Naziruddin bin Haji Ismail opening his international account.

Brunei will be gunning for a place in the main draw which they have only managed during the inaugural edition in 1996.
