According to the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD), the Sultanate is currently in the northeast monsoon season, which typically lasts until the end of March.
During the first half of this season, the country often experiences unstable weather conditions with frequent showers and thunderstorms, particularly at night. However, as the season progresses into February and March, the weather conditions tend to stabilise.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions to mitigate the risks associated with the active weather conditions. Heavy rainfall can lead to flash floods, especially in low-lying areas and near riverbanks. Strong winds may cause landslides, fallen trees, and flying debris. Moderate sea conditions pose risks to small boat operations and marine activities.
