BRUNEI Darussalam officially handed over the donation of BND272,000 (USD202,469.27) to the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Centre) in Jakarta, Indonesia on Friday.
According to a statement from the Community Development Department, the donation was presented by Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to Indonesia Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Yussof bin Haji Abdul Rahman to Executive Director of AHA Centre Adelina Kamal.
Secretary General of ASEAN Dato Paduka Lim Jock Hoi and representative of National Agency for Disaster Management (BNPB) Dicky Fabrian witnessed the ceremony.
The donation has demonstrated the care and solidarity of Bruneians toward the suffering of the people affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Central Sulawesi.
The donation is for the building of six temporary shelters through the ASEAN Resilient Village project as well as other infrastructures for the needs of the community.
AHA Centre stated that it is committed to ensuring the donation will be used effectively to bring benefits to the affected communities.
