Brunei delegation in Vietnam for APICTA Awards

A Brunei Darussalam delegation are participating in the 19th Asia Pacific Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Alliance (APICTA) Awards 2019, a prestigious international ICT competition in Vietnam from November 18-23.

Chief Executive of Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) and Co-Chairman of the Brunei ICT Awards (BICTA) 2019 Promotion Action Group Pengiran Haji Mohd Zain bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Razak was at the Brunei International Airport to send off the delegation.

Officials from the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC), Ministry of Education (MoE), Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) and AITI were also present.

The 31-member delegation comprising two APICTA Exco members, five local judges, two economy coordinators as well as 23 nominees, is led by Chairman of InfoCom Federation Brunei (IFB) and Co-Chairman II of the BICTA 2019 Steering Committee Sheikh Haji Abas bin Sheikh Mohammad. Facilitated by AITI and IFB, Brunei Darussalam’s participation in APICTA is supported by MTIC.

Nominees representing Brunei Darussalam in APICTA 2019 consist of seven teams selected among the winners and runner-ups of BICTA 2019 held on September 18. They are Muappy Enterprise, Buycour Marketing Services, PharmBru, Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), Ma’had Islam Brunei, Berakas Secondary School and Chung Hwa Middle School, BSB. They are competing in different categories including Consumer – Media & Tourism; Consumer – Banking & Marketing; Student Senior and Tertiary Student – Consumer and Community.

Introduced in 2004, BICTA is an annual event organised jointly by the MTIC, AITI and IFB. BICTA is a component of the APICTA Awards where the quality and categories provided are in-line with APICTA standards.

Brunei Darussalam’s participation in APICTA since 2008 has managed to win two awards and 25 merit awards to date.

The nominees underwent mentorship sessions with expert trainers in various areas such as market traction, financial forecasting and enhancing their presentation skills as part of their preparation to compete in the APICTA 2019.
