Brunei Darussalam’s contingent to the XXII Commonwealth Games 2022 has left for Birmingham, England on Sunday.
Acting Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid saw off the 12-member contingent comprising seven athletes and five officials at the Brunei International Airport.
The contingent, led by Chef de Mission Pengiran Siti Amal Jariah binti Pengiran Matjinen, will participate in lawn bowling and weightlifting.
Brunei’s last participation in the Commonwealth Games was in Gold Coast, Australia in 2018. The Sultanate first participated in the Games in 1990.
Permanent Secretary (Sports) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, as well as Youth and Sports Department officials were also present.
