Brunei Darussalam made their maiden appearance in the Tenpin bowling event of the 1st SEA Deaf Games 2022 at the Lite Superbowl JB, Selayang Mall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The national trio of Haji Mohamad Zin Hasim bin Haji Umar, Mohd Hariz bin Hassan and Mohammad Nazri bin Haji Mahat competed in the final phase of men’s singles event alongside 20 other runners from various nationalities based in Southeast Asia.
Haji Mohamad Zin Hasim was the best placed among the three in 16th after accumulating a total of 930 points, while his compatriots Mohd Hariz and Mohammad Nazri totalled 848 and 769 points.
Meanwhile, Haji Mohamad Zin Hasim and Mohammad Nazri had also been scheduled to compete in the final phase of the doubles event.
The pair will be competing against duos from hosts Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore.
Malaysia dominated the men’s singles event after three of their athletes completed a clean sweep in the podium led by gold medallist Nethenal Siefgred with a whooping 1199 points.
Zaidi Awang collected silver with a total of 1195 points while Jonathan Ho took bronze with 1177 points.
The multi-sport competition is currently organised for the first time by the ASEAN Deaf Sports Federation with Malaysia Deaf Sports Association.
