Brunei athletes continue good showing at ASEAN School Games

BRUNEI Darussalam Sports Schools Council (MSSSBD) contingent competed in swimming, table tennis and athletics on the second day of the 11th ASEAN School Games in Semarang, Indonesia last Saturday.

In the 800m freestyle event, MSSSBD swimmer Aaron Ang broke his personal best with a time of 9:19.70s. He eclipsed the old record previously held by Nathaniel Nikles with a time of 9:29.82s on April 20, 2014.

Meanwhile, in the team event in table tennis, MSSSBD defeated a team from Cambodia 3-0 and managed third place in the group stage.

In athletics, MSSSBD sprinter Danielle Riveera anak Layang advanced to the final of the 100m after he finished in fourth place in the second heats with a time of 11:15s.

On the third day of the competition, Brunei Darussalam Sports Schools Council will take part in the men’s 200m final and women’s 800m heats in athletics as well as the men’s singles preliminary round in badminton.
