Brunei athlete reaches Ninja World Cup final

Brunei Darussalam obstacle course racing athlete Awangku Muhd Nur’Nazirul Mubin bin Pengiran Roslan progressed to the finals of the Ninja World Cup Asia 2023 at the ArCoVia City in Pasig City, Manila, the Philippines on Friday.

The national athlete secured one of the top 10 slots in the men’s elite category alongside rivals from the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Awangku Muhd Nur’Nazirul Mubin produced a stellar performance in the heats to keep him in contention for a place in the finals.

The obstacle course racing team had been previously informed that they received nomination to be considered for selection in the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games last December.

The news prompted the team to commence training which encompasses cardio, strength and endurance as well as ways to tackle obstacles throughout the course. The national team was proud to receive the nomination for consideration to be selected, which will be announced in due course.

The team’s involvement at the SEA Games was not confirmed pending official announcement after receiving news with regards to the regional multi-sport competition last December.

Four other national athletes also took part-team captain Muhd Hasnal Husna bin Ahmad; Muhammad Adid bin Abdul Kadir, Awangku Muhammad Habibullah bin Pengiran Haji Jufri; and Azizil Anwar bin Mosli.

The men’s elite finals of the competition will be held today.

Participating countries included host nation the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Georgia, Indonesia, Japan and Malaysia.
