Brunei an important partner, says Indian envoy

The many important engagements between Brunei and India have laid down the roadmap for strengthening and diversification for bilateral cooperation, said High Commissioner of India to Brunei Darussalam, Alok Amitabh Dimri while officiating the reception for 74th Republic Day of India on Thursday evening at the Royal Berkshire Hall, Jerudong.

Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman and spouse were the guest of honour.

The high commissioner presented a memento to the guest of honour.

Guests were entertained to various cultural performances by members of the Indian community in the Sultanate.

The high commissioner said Brunei has been an important partner and identified agriculture, education, ICT, science and technology and health as priority areas for cooperation.

He added that they wish to explore cooperation in digitisation, e-commerce and e-governance while there is enthusiasm in strengthening the ties.

Brunei and India have also made progress in the fields of defence, health, trade and commerce and space, he said.
