27 new cases of COVID-19 were added in Brunei Darussalam in the past 24 hours, with two new clusters involving six cases. This brings the total number of cases to 15,229, according to the Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Md Isham bin Hj Jaafar at a press conference on Tuesday.
There are 18 additional new cases today to 7 of the existing active clusters who were previously close contacts with several positive cases.
Both new clusters are accommodation clusters, including a worker dormitory.
Six clusters (I-Con staff house Cluster, Mashor GC staff house Cluster, Nurisman Sdn Bhd Cluster, 9124 Cluster, 4163 Cluster and Soon Lee Heavy Machineries Cluster) have been closed following no new detected cases in the clusters for 28 days.
Therefore, the current total active clusters are 107 clusters.
Meanwhile, 3 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection.
95 cases have recovered on Tuesday, bringing the total number of recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 14,932 cases, whereas the total number active cases are 197 cases.
Among the cases being treated at this time, one case is in Category 5 who is currently being treated at the Intensive Care Unit and requires assistance of artificial ventilation as well as an additional heart/lung machine (ECMO). Meanwhile, there is one other case that is categorised in Category 4 that requires oxygen assistance and is under close monitoring.
In the past 24 hours, a total of 4,990 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which brings the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 645,285 tests.
