Brunei Darussalam will acquire its first slot of the COVID-19 vaccine for five per cent of the population, said Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar during a press conference held yesterday at the Ministry of Health (MoH).
He added, “We are waiting for it to be delivered. We don’t know when this will be, but it will most likely in the first or second quarter of next year.”
Asked about Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s recent proposal for Brunei to establish a reciprocal green lane, Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham said, “At present, to my knowledge, there has been no formal request for such a discussion between the governments of Brunei and Malaysia.”
“We will wait for the Ministries of Foreign Affairs in both countries to discuss the matter, if the need arises.”
Regarding the green lane between Brunei and Singapore, he said, “Alhamdulillah, it is working well. But remember that Singapore is a low-risk country, with a very minimal community spread.
“Unfortunately, the community spread is still quite high in Malaysia, especially in areas of Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Sabah.”
