The Brunei Darussalam national netball team have been ranked 35th out of 44 entrants in the latest World Netball (WN) World Rankings, according to the world netball governing body World Netball.
The Royal Bees are ranked above the Cayman Islands, Antigua & Barbuda and Malta and behind the USA, Gibraltar and Kenya.
Based on the current rankings, Brunei is five spots behind Malaysia and seven rungs behind Singapore, both of whom are Southeast Asian (SEA) powerhouses.
The updated rankings were released based on international matches up to June 30.
The senior netball team last appeared in the 2022 Asian Netball Championships (ANC) in Singapore, where they obtained a sixth-place finish. Countries must play two games against a rated team and a minimum of six international test matches to earn a spot in the world rankings. Those that do not meet the minimum number of matches will still be given a rating but will not have a corresponding ranking.
Australia sits at the top of the ranking, followed by New Zealand in second place and England in third place.
Jamaica and South Africa rounded off the top five in fourth and fifth places, respectively.
Reigning Asian champions Sri Lanka is the highest-ranked team affiliated under Asia Netball – a partner of World Netball – in 15th place. – Fadhil Yunus
