TELEKOM Brunei Berhad (TelBru) announced that the public can collect this year’s issue of telephone directories from TelBru branches nationwide yesterday.
TelBru has chosen ‘A Vision For A Better Future Generation’ as this year’s directory cover design inspired by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s aspiration namely Brunei’s Future – ‘Nation’s Progress, Socio-Economic Development, and Well-Being of the People’ in honour of His Majesty’s 72nd birthday titah.
His Majesty’s government has in recent times sought to diversify the country’s economy by reducing its reliance on oil and gas to strengthen the long-term growth prospects of the economy. Efforts have been made in attracting foreign direct investments (FDIs) into the country as well as in improving Brunei’s business environment and enhancing the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Focus on some of the non-traditional industries such as manufacturing, tourism, agriculture, and aquaculture have been high and with the infrastructure, reliable support and effective development programme, the country’s economic diversification plan will accelerate noticeably.
During the distribution period, TelBru continues to encourage the return of old directories regardless of publication year including other books to facilitate the company’s continuous recycling drive when the public come to collect this year’s new directory.
“We are very thankful to members of the public for their positive approach and support in making a difference every year by bringing these recyclable items as we at TelBru aim to preserve the practice of being environmentally conscious,” said TelBru in a statement.
For bulk collection, the public may collect this year’s directory at TelBru’s Sumbiling building where recycling bins are also available.
The proceeds from this recycling drive will be donated to Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al Hajjah Maryam at the conclusion of the ongoing campaign.
