The Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Bridge and Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Bridge have been lit in purple from 7pm yesterday to 5am today, in a show of commitment by the Sultanate to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).

The International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated globally every March 8 including Brunei Darussalam. Purple is chosen to symbolise IWD in conjunction with the official colour of the United Nations (UN).

Members of the public are called to take pictures and upload them into social media with the hashtag #iwdbn2021.
