Looking to break the chain of poverty, six undergraduates undergoing their Discovery Year internship at Society for Community Outreach and Training (SCOT) initiated a project, Baking for Change, for underprivileged students of Rimba II Primary School at the school’s multipurpose hall yesterday.

Project leader Haziqah binti Juhari said, “Our project is aimed at inspiring the students and develop their baking skills. It is hoped that the children can utilise these skills to build a business in the future.”

She added, “we are focussing on students from underprivileged families, which is in line with SCOT’s vision of eradicating poverty in the country.

In the future, she shared, “We will teach the children poster-making, cookie-decorating, and presentation skills to promote their products”.

SCOT President Ahmad Syauqie bin Haji Satia was also present at the event.
