BPTV allowance not sustainable for students

I would like to refer to the letter ‘BPTV provides opportunities to further studies at local private higher education institutions’ by the Scholarship Section, Ministry of Education (MoE), published in the Opinion page of the Borneo Bulletin on January 1.

It is disheartening to see that the MoE not clarifying the matter regarding the woes of the letter ‘Call to increase BPTV allowance’ by Student, published in the Opinion page of the Borneo Bulletin on December 18, 2019.

In the letter by the student, he/she mentioned how people were forced to quit their jobs to be eligible for the Technical and Vocational Education Scholarship Scheme (BPTV) and how the BND45 allowance was not sustainable in the current economy.

I would like to ask the authorities to look into this matter as this issue will have a major impact on the people of Brunei especially future students who might consider not wanting to continue their studies due to insufficient allowances and expensive school fees.
