In its effort to promote local products, Kampong Jerudong ‘B’ Village Consultative Council (MPK) and Kedayan Jerudong Heritage Association (Warisan) held an exhibition showcasing products derived from the Kedayan ethnic community.
Acting Village Head of Kampong Jerudong ‘B’ Kamis bin Panjang likens the exhibition event to the annual Makan Tahun event. It was also a platform for the younger generation to learn how to prepare and cook traditional Kedayan food.
“The event is a demonstration on kelupis making and to encourage youth to learn to prepare traditional delicacies,” he said.
“In the past, we steamed or cooked kelupis using daram (barrel) but today we do so with panci besar (huge cooking pot),” he added.
The event also showcased an array of products such as hand-weaved handbags, wooden kitchen utensils, machetes and walking sticks.
Special Duties Officer Grade II of the Brunei-Muara District Office Rosdin bin Haji Abdul Aziz was present.
