Boost for entrepreneurs with power lunch series

Young Entrepreneurs Association of Brunei (YEAB) and Baiduri Bank is collaborating to co-host the Power Lunch Series starting on November 2022 as part of a joint initiative to support entrepreneurs in navigating businesses challenges. As many businesses are still overcoming the aftermath of COVID-19 pandemic, the Power Lunch Series aims to provide local entrepreneurs with a platform to share about business struggles and best practices in overcoming the challenges as well as cultivate a culture of support and collaboration with the goal of instilling confidence to entrepreneurs to re-emerge from the pandemic stronger, wiser and bolder. The Power Lunch Series will feature a monthly gathering of entrepreneurs and invited key stakeholders from different sectors and industries.

The event started yesterday at level 8, Baiduri Community Space at Baiduri Bank Headquarters. Over 30 participants from various stages of F&B sector attended the event, featuring mentor Ideal Group Holdings (Brunei) Sdn Bhd Managing Director Haji Awang Ahmad Morshidi bin Pehin Orang Kaya Digadong Seri Diraja Dato Laila Utama Haji Awang Abdul Rahman, facilitated by Director, ASEAN and Corporate Affairs at the United Kingdom-ASEAN Business Council Allen Lai.

“This Power Lunch Series is a great opportunity for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to collaborate and share their challenges to foster solutions as a community. At Baiduri Bank, we recognise that the business environment today is challenging for business owners. We hope that by promoting open dialogue within industries, MSMEs will be open to share and learn from their peers’ successes and mistakes, and develop a longstanding community that will weather future challenges together. In the spirit of co-creation, we are proud to partner with YEAB to promote this business platform for MSMEs,” said Baiduri Bank Head of Business Banking Mohd Isa Liew Mohd Amin Liew.

“Given the complexity and impact of the disruptions brought by the pandemic across various sectors and industries, our entrepreneurs are cautious about the future particularly as more new challenges are looming on the horizon including the global shipping crisis, climate change and geopolitical tensions which are all impacting business recovery by way of rising inflation. Among the impediments to business recovery include the entrepreneurs carrying the burden of recovery alone amidst the uncertainties largely due to a perceptional stigma about sharing their business struggles. Therefore we hope that through the Power Lunch Series, we can create this platform for our entrepreneurs to feel supported and driven to overcome the challenges and be able to grow their businesses and confidently contribute to economic growth as business owners and job providers. The involvement of key stakeholders hopes to act as an enabler for the development of the business ecosystem,” said President YEAB Fatin Arifin.
