SI MANJA Pet Grooming Spa held the grand opening ceremony of its cat boarding service along with the Cat Diva competition recently.
The event saw eight cats competing for the top prize.
First prize winner Olaf, owned by Hajah Siti Khadijah binti Haji Suhaili, won a BND500 cash voucher.
Second prize winner Mochi, owned by Hafeezah Mahadi, received a BND100 cash voucher while third prize winner Figaro, owned by Nur Syifaa Adawiyah binti Ismail, received a BND50 cash voucher.
The event began from 11am-4pm where walk-in customers had the opportunity to watch a live grooming demonstration and judge the contestants.
Owner of Si Manja Pet Grooming Spa Billy Lim told the Weekend Bulletin that Si Manja Pet Grooming Spa opened a year ago and had recently expanded to a second unit with the new cat boarding facilities and a bigger cat grooming room.
Billy Lim said that aside from celebrating the new cat boarding facilities, the competition was also held to mark His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 73rd birthday celebration.
“We were only one unit made up of two employees, and now we have expanded to a second unit just next door to the first one with a much bigger space for cat grooming and also boarding lofts,” said Billy. “We also have dedicated separate grooming rooms for cats and dogs.”
Lim also added that the cat-boarding is the first-of-its-kind in Brunei with its six feet high loft with a built-in cat-scratcher and spacious play areas as well as segregated compartments with a separated litter area and food bowls and drinks. This gives the cats ample space to jump and exert their energy.
“We also place a large emphasis on hygiene and sanitation, so they are sanitised by high-grade disinfectants twice a day and we have a 24/7 groomer,” said Billy.
Si Manja Pet Grooming Spa employs professional local and foreign groomers with more than 10 years of experience in grooming, using high quality tools and equipment from the United States, good quality shampoos and conditioners from France, and places a very big emphasis on sanitation as only cats that are vaccinated and free from any virus or diseases are able to be boarded or groomed at the spa.
