Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar outlined the fines for violations of Chapter 204 of the Infectious Diseases Act at the daily press conference yesterday.

The minister warned COVID-19 cases and close contacts under qurantine order (QO) against tampering with wristbands issued by the Ministry of Health (MoH).

“The MoH mandated that those identified as positive with COVID-19 and close contacts undergo QO. The wristbands will be worn until they complete the quarantine period.

“Anyone found cutting, loosening or unfastening the wristbands before the end of QO will be fined BND5,000 as stipulated under Chapter 204 of the Infectious Diseases Act,” said the minister.

Earlier, he reminded the public that individuals leaving their residences are required to have BruHealth app on their mobile phones or are accompanied by those with the app, such as caregivers, employers or managers, who have them as registered members. Those who fail to comply will be fined BND100.

The minister reiterated that failure to wear face masks at public or at crowded places is liable to a BND100 fine.
