Funds to help victims of the recent Kampong Pengiran Bendahara Lama fire victims continue to flow, with the Brunei Darussalam Hokkien Association yesterday making a donation.
A ceremony was held at the Brunei-Muara District Office in Jalan Airport Lama, Berakas to hand over the BND12,888.88 donation.
Leading the association was its Chairman Lim Han Chiong, who noted that just like other local Chinese communities here, they too feel the need to step up and contribute to the fire victims fund.
“With a strong sense of responsibility and solidarity, we collected the funds to help ease the burden of the fire victims,” he said.
Leading the donation presentation was the chairman, who presented BND1,000 from the association and his own personal contribution of BND2,088.88.
This was followed by BND1,000 personal contributions from Administrative Affairs Advisor Lim Kok Kim; Deputy Chairman Lim Sooi Tiong; Vice Chairpersons Lee Eng Ching, Tan Chin Wan and Goh Kok Leong and Vice Welfare Chief Teo Thian Siong.
Vice Chairman Peng Yan Hoe, Secretary General Hong Kim Seng, Auditor Goh Kok An, Head of Education and Cultural Datin Ti Li Chew and Head of Public Relation Lim Peng Kok contributed BND500 each, Vice Chairman Goh Kim Tian, Commerce and Industrial Chief Lim Ting Chai and member Wong Siew Kiong each contributed BND300 each, while Head of General Administrative Fang Teck Siong and Head of Welfare Chua Teck Chee contributed BND200 each.
Receiving the donations on behalf of the fund was Brunei-Muara District Officer Misle bin Haji Abdul Karim.
Brunei-Muara District Office officials also attended.
