BND10,000 raised for fire victims

The Chinese Chamber of Commerce Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) with the support of the Brunei-Muara District Office recently raised BND10,019 through a public donation drive for the Kampong Pengiran Bendahara Lama Fire Victims Charity Fund.

Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong received the donation from Chinese Chamber of Commerce BSB President Malcolm Lim and Dato Jack Ting, during the ceremony at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) yesterday.

The minister conveyed gratitude to the Chinese Chamber of Commerce BSB for helping to raise funds for the victims.

Malcolm Lim told the Bulletin, “Working together with the Brunei-Muara District Office, we carried out a donation drive for the fire victims from February 8 to 29, with 30 donation boxes placed at supermarkets and food premises in the district.

“Despite the COVID-19 situation, we didn’t forget about the fire victims. We raised BND10,019 within a month thanks to public donations. We hope this will help ease the burden of the fire victims.”

Permanent Secretary (Municipal and District) at the MoHA Salminan bin Haji Burut and the Acting Brunei-Muara District Officer also attended.
