The Ministry of Health is calling on the public to help replenish blood reserves at the Blood Donation Centre at Raja Isteri Pengiran Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital.
The Blood Donation Centre is currently low in blood supply and requires all blood types for the use of blood transfusions at all government hospitals said the Ministry of Health in a press release.
A number of public blood donation drives will be held next week, organised by various government departments and local communities.
A blood donation drive will be held at Atria Simpur Hall, Public Works Department on April 6 from 9am to 11am. Another drive will be held at the multipurpose hall of the Fire and Rescue Department Headquarters on April 10 from 9am to noon.
A drive organised by the Indian community will be held at the Health Promotion Centre, Jalan Menteri Besar on April 11 from 9am to noon. The Blood Donation Centre is also operating as normal and can receive public blood donations during working hours.
Those who donate are entitled for two hours of free parking at the Block 10 car park and those who wish to make the claim are reminded to bring their parking tickets when donating blood.
Meanwhile, a total of 32 pints of blood were collected during a blood donation drive conducted at the Ministry of Education, co-organised by the Department of Co-curriculum Education through its Uniform and Community Service Unit and the RIPAS Hospital Blood Donation Centre.
The drive was held from 9am to 11.30am at the Main Hall, Curriculum Development Department, New Building, Ministry of Education. The event gave officers and staff at the Ministry of Education as well as members of the public an opportunity to donate to those in need of blood.
