STAFF from Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd visited the residence of an underprivileged senior citizen couple in Kampong Sungai Bakong to hand over basic necessities and assist in cleaning and repairing their house as part of its continuous initiative to give back to the community recently.
The activity, organised by the Management and Information Services Department of Brunei LNG, is one of the company’s initiatives BLNGolden Hearts.
The programme encourages staff to show care and appreciation towards the community by carrying out altruistic activities in conjunction with the company’s 50th anniversary in December.
Volunteers comprising Brunei LNG Technical Function, the wider Brunei LNG community and business partners visited the couple and provided assistance in repairing and beautifying the house.
“It is a way for us to appreciate and care for our golden citizens. At the same time, it allows the team to bond outside of work,” said Head of Management and Information Services and activity lead Hajah Shy-Rofinah binti Abu Bakar.
“We hope our efforts today will help make their home a little more comfortable and most importantly safer for them to live in, Insya Allah,” she added.
The couple – Suhaili bin Tahir, 78, and Mastura binti Abdullah Man, 62 – was identified by the Community Development Department (JAPEM) and was previously recipients of Brunei LNG’s Ramadhan Charity Drive.
“They were the recipients of our Caring Brunei LNG Charity Drive held earlier this year during Ramadhan by the Badan Pekerja-Pekerja Islam. During the drive, one of the members noted the condition of the house and we decided to come back and do another BLNGolden Hearts activity,” she explained.
