Five firefighters from Kampong Rataie Fire Station led by ABKS 335 Roslan bin Haji Moksin were dispatched to the house after receiving a distress call at 5.14pm, according to the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD).

The fire completely destroyed the kitchen extension made of wood. The situation was kept under control within three minutes.

Monitoring the operation were Commanding Officer of Operation ‘G’ Branch SSFR Haji Afiq bin Haji Julah and Station Commander of Bangar Fire Station SO Ishraqi bin Haji Sidup.

Also in attendance was Acting Village Head of Kampong Selangan and Kampong Parit/Biang Haji Bahrun bin Haji Talib.

The cause of the fire and cost of damages are under investigation.

The department advised the public to make sure their homes are equipped with dry-powder-type fire extinguishers, along with fire blankets and battery-operated smoke detectors.

Any installation of wiring and electrical equipment should be done by qualified technicians and electrical appliances must be switched off after use or before leaving the house.

Additionally, gas regulators should be covered and unplugged when not in use.
