THE Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) focussed on ICT projects identified in the BIMP-EAGA Vision 2025 in this year’s Information and Communications Technology Cluster Meeting (ICT-CM) in Puerto Princesa on Wednesday.
With four identified strategic priorities, the meeting discussed matters on developing hard and soft ICT infrastructure, promotion of e-commerce at the subregional level, human resource development in ICT, and development of ICT entrepreneurship and ICT products and services.
Delegates also participated in pre-event activities organised by the secretariat as part of a series of meetings, conferences and exhibition leading up to the Cluster Meeting on Wednesday – the BIMP-EAGA ICT CEO Forum at Citystate Asturias Hotel on Monday, and Livelihood Exchange (LIVEX) Conference and Exhibit on Day 2 (Tuesday) at the same venue.
The ICT-CM was participated by the Philippine’s DICT and its counterparts – Brunei Darussalam’s Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications, Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, and Malaysia’s Communication and Multimedia Commission.
The four organisations, together with key private partners, made up this year’s meeting.
The BIMP-EAGA is a sub-regional economic cooperation aimed at spurring economic development in remote areas in the four-member countries.
