MIRI (Bernama) – Police have arrested three drug traffickers and subsequently made the largest drug and asset seizure in Sarawak to date, totalling RM409,917.
Sarawak Deputy Commissioner of Police Datuk Dev Kumar M M Sree said three local suspects aged 32, 38 and 47 were arrested in two raids last Sunday and on Monday at two locations in Luak Bay.
“We believe the detention of three suspects and the seizures will temporarily halt drug distribution activities at entertainment centres here,” he said at a conference at Miri District Police Headquarters (IPD) yesterday.
Dev said the total seizure value of the two raids was RM409,917 with the seized drugs valued at RM315,930 and the assets, RM93,987.
He said the first raid was conducted last Sunday at 7.40pm on the first floor of a shop house in Luak Bay with a seizure of 4,044 ecstacy pills weighing 1,260 grammes, 2,240 grammes of powdered ketamine and 1,830 grammes of a mixture of fruit juice and ketamine.
“Also seized were a car worth RM60,000, another car worth RM15,000, RM11,095 in cash, jewellery worth RM4,892 and watches valued at RM3,000,” he said. He said the second raid took place at 4pm on Monday at a house in Luak Bay with a seizure of 416 grammes of ketamine and a mixture of fruit juice and ketamine weighing 695 grammes.
According to him, police also seized various equipment and materials for processing, weighing and packing drugs for distribution purposes around entertainment centres in Miri.
