Winners of the Brunei ICT Awards (BICTA) 2019 will be announced during the awards ceremony at The Core Lecture Hall of Universiti Brunei Darussalam on September 18.
BICTA is an annual ICT competition event led by the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC). It is jointly organised by the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) and InfoCom Federation Brunei (IFB).
This year’s BICTA is also supported by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Religious Affairs and DARe (Darussalam Enterprise).
The competition is aimed to stimulate innovation and creativity in the ICT industry among individuals, organisations and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
BICTA 2019, launched in early May, was opened for participation to schools in the secondary and tertiary levels, as well as local individuals and ICT companies in three categories – School Category, Tertiary Category and ICT Industry Category.
The top prize for the first place winner for each category is BND3,000, BND7,000 and BND10,000.
There will also be five Special Awards presented this year, namely under Research and Development Project; Big Data Analytics Technology; Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology; Internet of Things (IoT) Technology; and Start-Up.
BICTA has been serving as a platform for individuals, students and local enterprises to showcase their ICT talents.
Every year, the award identifies outstanding local ICT innovations, giving them the recognition to seek further success in the global arena through participation in the international ICT competition known as Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards.
The winners of BICTA 2019 for each category will compete at the APICTA which will be held in Ha Long Bay, Vietnam from November 18-23.
