BIACC Sdn Bhd reached new heights in its operation in Brunei yesterday after being the first in the Sultanate to achieve the ISO22301:2019 for the implementation of international standard Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) striving to provide excellent quality service.
The awarding ceremony for ISO22301:2019 certification took part at The Empire Brunei yesterday. Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Economy) Dato Seri Paduka Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid attended the ceremony in his capacity as BIACC Chairman.
The deputy minister highlighted the importance of business continuity management (BCM) and congratulated BIACC for its achievement.
“The COVID-19 pandemic impacted the economy and lifestyle we live in, altering how we work and how we function. Ultimately, it has brought significance to the role of proper BCM as a valuable instrument to ensure the best possible defence against the inevitable and unforeseen threats,” he said.
“The implementation of ISO22301:2019 provided a practical framework for setting up and managing an effective continuity management system. BIACC with assurance from Bureaue Veritas Brunei has successfully enhanced its existing business continuity management system by formally adopting this standard, enabling BIACC to have a solid position on safeguarding its business from potential threats and disruptions and demonstrating to stakeholders that they can quickly recover from an operational disruption to continue offering service,” he added.
According to BIACC General Manager Haji Ariffin bin Haji Emran, “This is another significant milestone for BIACC and a testament to the hard work and commitment of our employees in achieving the certification. We are building resilience into our business and the adoption of ISO22301:2019 enable us to prevent, prepare for, respond to and receive from incidents such as power outage with the least disruption to business while maintaining BIACC’s position as an important air cargo ground handler in the region.”
