The Brazilian Football Academy (BFA) Under-12 team left the Sultanate yesterday to compete in the highly-anticipated Garuda International Cup III at the ASIOP Training Ground Sentul in Bogor, Indonesia which will commence today until July 9.
The 14 selected players include Muhammad Muhsin Yusuf Idham Maswadi and Awangku Ahmad Umayr As-siddiq bin Pengiran Noor Azman as goalkeepers. The defenders comprise Aqil Isyraf bin Helfizad, Alexander Szymon Grzegorzek, Abdul Ali bin Mohamad Azam and Joel Lim Qee Sen.
The midfielders include Zikry Danial bin Haji Zainuddin, Md Aadiy Arsyad Idris Dzulkarnaen, Awangku Muhd Fadil Hamzi bin Pengiran Mohd Fadillah, Eason Lim Yi Chern and Ryan Wong Wei Han. Meanwhile, the forwards are Aiman Hakeem Amirul Sabrin, Ameer Abdul Muezz Mohamad Amiruddin, and Arfan Dzakwan bin Dzulbahrin.
The Brunei-based outfit have been drawn in Group ‘B’ alongside Indonesia’s Farmel FC and ASIOP Biru as well as Malaysia’s Best FC.
The BFA team will begin their campaign with matches against Farmel FC and Best FC today before concluding their group stage against ASIOP Biru tomorrow.
Sixteen teams will be participating in the tournament including countries from hosts Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Japan and Brunei.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the cup category while the bottom two teams will be entered in the plate category. – Fadhil Yunus
