Some 114 students and teachers from Meragang Sixth Form Centre, Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College, Belait Sixth Form Centre and Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre attended the UTB-MIC Computing Degree Programmes roadshow at Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) to gain a better understanding of the degree programmes.

Organised by Micronet International College (MIC), a talk entitled ‘UTB-MIC Computing degree programmes Collaboration-Your Alternative Pathway to enter UTB’ commenced with welcoming remarks from MIC Principal and General Manager Sharon Chin.

“MIC currently offers two different programmes from UTB catering for GCE ‘A’ Level,” she said.

“The first is the bridging programme in Computing, or what we call BriCOMP. Micronet has been appointed by UTB as a satellite partner since 2019 to offer the bridging programme, specially designed for GCE ‘A’ Level students. The UTB-MIC computing degree programmes are the second UTB programmes currently offered at MIC.”

She added, “Our college is blessed to collaborate with UTB to offer the two bachelor’s degree programmes in Computing to provide an alternative pathway for GCE ‘A’ Level school leavers and Higher National Diploma (HND) holders to gain entry to UTB for their second and final years.”

She said Micronet is also an accredited Pearson BTEC Approved Centre offering various levels of computing and business programmes ranging from Level 1 to Level 5 HND.

MIC offers three-year degree programmes of UTB-MIC computing degree programmes with two majors – BSc (Hons) in Computing (Major in Network Security) and BSc (Hons) in Computing (Major in Multimedia).

Once accepted, students begin studies at MIC and upon completion of Year 1, they will be articulated to Year 2 and Year 3 at UTB. Upon fulfilment of the programme, students graduate as UTB degree holders.
