The Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) in collaboration with Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd held a socialisation event titled ‘Better safe than sorry, The Shena Story’ on Wednesday.

According to a statement from SHENA, over 600 participants from the oil and gas industry attended the event at Pusat Insani in Seria.

Permanent Secretary (Energy) at the Ministry of Energy Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya, as the authority for SHENA, urged industry players to collaboratively work with the newly established Industry HSE Group, which comprises members from various industries and non-industries to exchange ideas and explore innovative ways to turn HSE related challenges into opportunities.

Haji Azhar added, “Regardless where your organisation is on your safety journey or how far your organisation has come, I urge you to take it further – provide the right training required, implement the necessary directives, strengthen the existing policies, take that extra step to ensure safety.”

SHENA aspires to drive and strengthen workplace safety and health in all workplaces across all industries. The event is part of SHENA’s ongoing outreach programme, which includes open HSE forums targetting the general industry and non-industry sectors, awareness campaigns and engaging relevant stakeholders as well as the public in pursuit of its mission in making Brunei Darussalam a safe place to work and live.
