Some 116 bags of litter weighing 966.9 kilogrammes were collected during a clean-up event at Tanjung Batu Beach on Friday.
Brunei Methanol Company Sdn Bhd (BMC) employees were joined by volunteers from Politeknik Brunei Main Campus and Green Brunei to remove litter and debris from the shoreline, in support of International Coastal Cleanup Day under this year’s theme ‘#SeaTheChange’. It was also part of BMC’s monthly Healthy Lifestyle Programme for November.
The top five groups who collected the heaviest amount of litter received awards.
The event is part of BMC’s ongoing corporate social responsibility strategy #RESPECT, which underscores the company’s commitment to environmental protection and community engagement.
Japanese Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Maeda Toru and Kampong Sungai Liang Village Head Mohammad Haszrin bin Bagol and BMC board member Ahmad Fathi bin Dato Paduka Haji Junaidi were present.
