Beach clean-up attracts 55

Sinotrans along with corporate companies, recently collaborated in a beach clean-up campaign to spread awareness on saving the oceans from plastic and disposal waste, participated by 55 individuals.

Every year tonnes of garbage end up in the oceans due to indiscriminate disposal of waste, Sinotrans stated in a release yesterday.

Sixty per cent of this waste are plastic.

Plastics are very hazardous to marine life, killing more than a million birds and over 100,000 seals, turtles, whales and fish in the oceans.

Participants included representatives from Muara Port Company, Archipelago Logistic Sdn Bhd and HLDS (B) Sdn Bhd.

“We strongly believe that the only thing that should be left on our beaches are our footprints. As the saying goes, ‘Protecting the environment is everyone’s responsibility, starting from me’”, the release added.
