BDAIDSCouncil elects new committee

Legislative Council (LegCo) member Yang Berhormat Iswandy bin Ahmad will continue to lead the Brunei Darussalam AIDS Council (BDAIDSCouncil) to greater heights after he was re-elected as the President at the ninth general meeting of the BDAIDSCouncil at Eat Well Co, Jerudong yesterday.

Assisting Yang Berhormat Iswandy is Vice President I (Administration) Mohamad Hazrin bin Daud and Vice President II (Programme) Liyana Imani binti Abdul Latif.

Norul Alhakim bin Pandin holds the post of Secretary I (Administration) while Masuria binti Haji Damit is Secretary II (Programme).

Nurul Adilah binti Mahmud is Media and Relationship Secretary and Mohd Andy Tan bin Abdullah @ Tan Yung Peng is Treasurer.

BDAIDSCouncil is a non-profit organisation established in 2000 where its main objective is to raise awareness on the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) in Brunei Darussalam. It aims to educate the public on related issues like sexually transmitted infections (STIs), unwanted pregnancy and social issues.

The council uses multiple approaches in reaching its objectives – youth work and trainings, youth and community participation, outreach programmes, voluntary work, media coverage as well as collaboration with other agencies.

Being a non-profit organisation, the council relies on support from donors and supporters.
