Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) reinforced its dedication to the growth of Islamic finance and capacity building both in Brunei Darussalam and internationally by sponsoring and participating in the Islamic Leaders Conference (ILC) 2024, held at Menara Syariah in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The event, organised by the Brunei Institute of Leadership and Islamic Finance (BILIF) in collaboration with Menara Syariah with BIBD as one of the key sponsors, gathered experts, practitioners, and industry leaders to discuss the role of Islamic values in shaping effective leadership and financial growth.

Representing BIBD at the conference were Deputy Head of Retail Banking Junaidi bin Bahrum, alongside Farah A’liyah binti Haji Amer Hishamuddin and Nurul Adilah binti Haji Abu Bakar from BIBD Securities.

Their participation underscores BIBD’s commitment to fostering innovation and leadership in Islamic finance, contributing to sustainable growth both within the region and beyond.

This also reflects BIBD’s continuous efforts to expand networks and collaboration opportunities for Islamic finance especially regionally, equipping employees with critical insights into global trends and challenges within the Islamic financial landscape.

With the theme ‘Leadership and Islam’, the two-day conference featured discussions on the principles of ethical and value-based leadership derived from Islamic teachings. As a leading institution in Islamic finance, BIBD’s support for such initiatives aligns with its vision to strengthen the global Islamic financial ecosystem.

By sponsoring and actively engaging in events such as ILC 2024, BIBD continues to showcase its leadership in promoting sustainable economic growth through Syariah-compliant financial solutions.

In addition to capacity building, BIBD emphasised its role in advancing the digital transformation of Islamic financial services, an important theme discussed during the event. BIBD’s investment in Syariah-compliant fintech solutions, digital banking and ethical investment strategies aligns with key conference themes on sustainable finance and innovative leadership.

The ILC 2024 featured keynote speakers and panellists from both Brunei and Indonesia, including senior officials from Brunei Darussalam Central Bank, BILIF and figures in the Indonesian financial sector. The event also explored diverse topics such as Maqasid Syariah’s role in organisational success, the leadership model of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and the impact of women in leadership.

Through its active involvement, BIBD continues to contribute to the ongoing growth and development of the global Islamic financial industry, reaffirming its commitment to capacity building, innovation, and sustainability in the sector.
