Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) yesterday unveiled the GLIDE (Great Leaders Inspire Development and Excellence) Initiative, a transformative programme that underscores its commitment to empowering its workforce and advancing the bank’s strategic vision as Brunei’s largest financial institution.

BIBD’s acting chief human resources officer in his opening remarks, highlighted the three pillars of GLIDE: building a strengths-based culture, expanding the leadership development framework, and enhancing the learning culture.

“These elements are crucial for equipping employees to excel and lead effectively while aligning with BIBD’s vision to create a workplace that inspires growth and fosters excellence,” he said.

“This year, we’re extending CliftonStrengths Discovery workshops to our individual contributors, reflecting our belief that leadership and excellence can be achieved at every level,” he added.

A key component of this initiative is training staff to become certified trainers, equipping them with the skills to mentor and develop their peers. The approach ensures that knowledge and expertise are continuously shared and embedded throughout the organisation. BIBD Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Junaidi bin Haji Masri reinforced the initiative’s strategic significance, tying it to the bank’s overarching goals and its role in Brunei’s national development.

“A strengths-based culture aligns with our goals, enabling us to adapt to technological advancements while leveraging our workforce’s unique talents to drive innovation and resilience,” he shared. “This initiative is not just about personal growth; it’s about building a thriving workplace that strengthens our bank and contributes to Brunei Vision 2035,” he said.

By investing in the personal and professional growth of its employees, BIBD is redefining workplace learning through structured leadership pathways, innovative online training platforms, and workplace learning initiatives. The emphasis on lifelong learning reflects the bank’s belief in empowering employees to continuously evolve, keeping pace with the demands of a dynamic financial industry.

GLIDE represents BIBD’s broader ambition to inspire greatness and unlock potential within its workforce.

“Our focus on nurturing strengths, expanding leadership capabilities, and embracing continuous learning reaffirms BIBD’s dedication to being an employer of choice.

“By investing in our people, we are not only building a thriving workplace but also contributing meaningfully to the prosperity of Brunei,” said Junaidi.

Through initiatives like GLIDE, BIBD continues to shape a future-ready workforce that is confident, capable, and inspired to lead the organisation and contribute to the community.
