Bank hosts workplace wellness forum

Baiduri Bank hosted its annual workplace wellness forum at the Baiduri Community Space, Baiduri Bank Headquarters on Thursday.

The theme of this year’s forum, ‘Wellness Starts with You’, aligns with Brunei Vision 2035’s goal of enhancing the quality of life.

The event aimed to inspire the bank’s employees and the community to explore and discover diverse wellness resources.

Baiduri Bank Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ti Eng Hui, in his opening remarks, said, “As a bank committed to the overall well-being of our employees, we introduced the Employee Wellness Initiative (EWI) in 2020. The holistic programme addresses mental, emotional, spiritual, and financial health. We are proud to share our progress and encourage other organisations to embrace similar initiatives as a cornerstone of a thriving workplace.”

The CEO also presented psychological first aider (PFA) certifications to 27 employees from various departments and Baiduri Bank branches.

PFAs are trained to provide immediate support for mental health concerns within their workplaces, fostering a supportive network for all employees.

The bank’s vision is to build a robust ecosystem of PFAs to promote sustainable employee well-being.

Since the introduction of the EWI in 2020, the bank has consistently improved its employee well-being score each year with the 2024 survey highlighting a notable accomplishment, with an EWI of 73 per cent.

The score exceeded the regional average in Asia Pacific at 69 per cent and the global average at 72 per cent.

The forum featured a panel discussion on ‘Living Our Life with Focus’.

Panellists included Head of Group Human Resources and Administration Division at Baiduri Bank Veronica Chong, Nor Syahmun binti Haji Matassan from the Ministry of Health, and fitness expert Jonathan Ooi from Jab Gym, who shared insights and techniques on how to focus better and thrive in the diverse roles we hold in today’s fast-paced world.

The event also offered free health checkups, BMI and blood pressure screenings, head and neck cancer screenings, a posture analysis and a Zen Space area. The forum concluded with participants engaging in wellness and fitness activities at the bank’s South Lawn.
