SOME 200 guests attended the RHB Brunei Chinese New Year open house at the Aman Hills Hotel, Sungai Tilong recently.

RHB Brunei Operation Chief Executive Officer Haji Ishak bin Othman welcomed the guests with RHB staff.

Haji Ishak conveyed his appreciation to the guests –loyal customers and business partners – for attending the annual celebration.

“RHB Brunei has been growing for the past three years where we have seen an increase in profitability as well as streamlining our operations here in Brunei. We hope to continue to strive in the future, striving to support our loyal customers by introducing new plans and expanding the business by adding more support staff and possibly introducing a niche facility service to the public because we want to provide the best services to our customers,” he said.

RHB Brunei was established in 1965. Since its inception in Brunei up until December 15, 1996, the bank was known as the United Malayan Banking Corporation Berhad (UMBC).

On December 16, 1996, the bank was renamed Sime Bank Berhad, reflecting the change in ownership under the Sime Darby Group of Malaysia.

In line with the banking consolidation exercise in Malaysia, the branch was renamed RHB Bank Berhad on May 13, 1999.
