Bangladeshi toddler is latest import case

A 19-month-old Bangladeshi toddler is the latest confirmed imported COVID-19 case in the Sultanate, bringing the national tally of confirmed cases to 183.

With the new import case, five active cases are receiving treatment at the National Isolation Centre in the Tutong District.

Details of the import case were shared by the Ministry of Health (MoH) in a press statement yesterday.

Case 183 is a child aged 19 months that arrived in the country from Bangladesh via Kuala Lumpur on January 28 on board Royal Brunei flight BI874. Contact tracing has found three close contacts for this case.

Meanwhile, the MoH has taken 287 samples for SARS-CoV-2 virus testing over the past 24 hours, with 94,605 tests conducted since January 2020.

A total of 576 individuals are undergoing mandatory self-isolation at government monitoring centres after arriving from abroad, while 12,704 have completed their stint since March 2020.
