Personnel from Bangar Police Station yesterday foiled an attempt to smuggle in alcohol, illegal drugs and frozen meat through Temburong District.

According to a statement by the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), the police team spotted three suspicious vehicles parked near the boat landing area in Kampong Negalang.

Several individuals were also seen unloading items from a boat into the vehicles. The police later stopped the vehicles at Jalan Kampong Negalang, and arrested one of the drivers.

The two other drivers escaped into the nearby forest.

The vehicles were brought to Bangar Police Station, where an inspection revealed 50 boxes of frozen meat, 66 cartons of beer and 10 cartons of bottled liquor.

A small packet containing crystalline particles, believed to be syabu, was found during a body search of the suspect.

The case was handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED) and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for further action.

The Royal Brunei Police Force will carry out regular patrols and monitoring to curb illegal activities. Members of the public are urged to assist in the efforts by channelling information to law enforcement agencies.
