Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) launched the Proudly Brunei Business Awards at the Design and Technology Building at Anggerek Desa Technology Park yesterday.
Head of Lead and Opportunity Management Division Cynthia Lim spoke on the theme ‘Catalysts for a Better Tomorrow’, whereby the award celebrates and recognises businesses that have shown growth and contributions in their industries.
The annual award aims to celebrate and honour exceptional businesses based in the Sultanate, promote an entrepreneurial culture, foster business growth, and create role models to lead economic development.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, who is also Chairman of the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) and DARe, launched the Awards and opened applications for the first cycle of the Proudly Brunei Business Awards.
Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Economy) Dato Seri Paduka Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid; Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Fiscal) Pengiran Datin Seri Paduka Hajah Zety Sufina binti Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Sani; Managing Director of Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei Datin Hajah Hasnah binti Ibrahim; Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, Junaidi bin Haji Masri who are Board members of BEDB and DARe, Acting CEO of the BEDB and DARe Daniel Leong attended the event.
The awards offer an opportunity for businesses to display their achievements and be acknowledged for their commitment to quality and excellence.
By participating, businesses can establish themselves as role models within the industry, gain visibility, and enhance their reputation as leaders in their sectors.
The awards comprise two main categories: the Open Award and the Priority Cluster.
The Open Award categories recognise businesses that have demonstrated outstanding performance in areas such as business growth, innovation, youth entrepreneurship, woman entrepreneurship, and start-up success.
The Priority Cluster categories acknowledge exceptional contributions in specific sectors, including oil and gas downstream, food, services, tourism and information and communications technology.
To be eligible, businesses must meet specific criteria, such as being incorporated or registered with the Registry of Companies and Business Names Division (ROCBN), having Bruneian citizens or permanent residents as business owners or shareholders, active participation in business operations, and providing a track record of up to three years, along with financial statements.
The winners will receive not only the recognition and prestige but also valuable business development opportunities, including exclusive collaborations with strategic partners to the Proudly Brunei Business Awards, providing access to industry-specific incentives, value-added programmes, and potential partnerships that can enhance their business growth and success.
