The Foochow Association Kuala Belait on Sunday marked the upcoming Chinese New Year (CNY) celebrations with an ‘eye-dotting’ ceremony at the association’s main hall.

Chairman Tan Tei Tei officiated, accompanied by committee members as well as members of the Youth Sporting and Women’s section.

Tan joined others in tying the ribbons to signify the awakening of the lions to bring good fortune and blessings. The chairman said the association will not conduct its annual lion dance activities this CNY celebration to observe the Ministry of Health guidelines and to ensure the safety of its members.

“We hope that in continuing to observe the annual tradition of the (eye-dotting) ceremony, we can celebrate this Chinese New Year in good health and prosperity. We look forward to being able to celebrate next year’s CNY (without COVID-19),” Tan said.
