The Marine Police under the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), together with other enforcement agencies, recovered 2,921 cans and 59 bottles of alcohol thrown into the waterway of Brunei Bay during a chase.
According to the RBPF, a joint operation, codenamed ‘Rondaan Teluk’ was conducted by the Marine Police and other enforcement agencies to increase the level of security in the country’s waterway, especially in Brunei Bay.
During the operation, the team detected a suspicious boat near Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Bridge, who, upon attempting to stop the boat, resulted in a pursuit.
The suspect threw the contraband into the water and escaped to a neighbouring country’s border.
The team recovered the contraband and handed them over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department.
The RBPF will continue to carry out operations to combat criminal activities within the Sultanate.
