Atami City to showcase Brunei animations

A three-member delegation from Atami City of Shizuoka Prefecture, Congressist Murayama Kenzo, Tatsumi Shuji from the Deputy Tourism Development Department and Vice Chairman of the Atami-Brunei Friendship Association Ikeda Shuichi, are currently in the country to promote sports cooperation under Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games 2020 Host Town Programme.

The delegation, accompanied by Advisor to the President for Brunei Affairs of Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) Okouchi Hiroshi, visited Origin Artistic Management and discussed with Producer Din Kamaluddin, Producer Munji Athirah, Director Siti Kamaluddin, Action Director Chan Man Ching, and Dean of Mahakarya Institute of the Arts Asia (MIAA) Dr Alex Fischer on how to enhance Brunei animation creators’ skills.

The contents and products created will be exhibited in a famous tourism spot in Atami City under the 2020 Host Town Programme.

Collaboration by both parties is hoped to produce a short story featuring a symbolic animation character on sports, culture, food, and custom. Brunei animation products will be proposed to Atami by April.

The products, selected and edited by the Japanese production company, will be used to promote tourism destinations in Brunei Darussalam.

The discussion included animation content creation cooperation, exchange programmes for young animation creators and dispatching experts to Brunei Darussalam.
